overbringerIC Information: Name: Victor "Cyborg" Stone, reincarnated as just Victor Stone
Canon and medium: Teen Titans cartoon
Age: Preincarnated: ~17, Reincarnated: 27
Preincarnation Species: Human (Cyborg)
Preincarnation Appearance: He looked like
this.
Any differences: In this life, he is MUCH less bulky, has hair, and is confined to a wheelchair due to having Friedreich's Ataxia.
Preincarnated History: Series WikiCharacter ArticleVictor Stone was a promising young athlete, but his career was cut short when a car crash killed his parents and horribly injured him. Experimental cybernetic replacements were able to save him from death, but left him looking extremely inhuman. Shunned by his old friends and relations for his freakish appearance, Victor took up the name Cyborg and went off to find himself.
He found himself when aiding a group of other young exceptional people in fighting off an alien invasion of his home city: Robin, a driven young man with incredible martial skills and high tech gadgets, Starfire, an alien princess with superhuman powers learning about life on Earth, Beast Boy, a green kid who could turn into animals, and Raven, a strange reclusive girl with magical powers. None of them seemed significantly thrown off by his unusual appearance, so when they decided to form a team to do battle against evil, Cyborg agreed to help them. Thus were the Teen Titans born, and Cyborg's technical know how, superhuman strength, and built in cybernetic systems made him a valuable addition to the team.
Reincarnated History: Victor Stone came from a lower-middle class family from Pennsylvania. His life would have been of little interest to anyone who didn't know him had he not been born with Friedreich's Ataxia. Friedreich's Ataxia is a degenerative condition of the nervous system that attacks the spine, causing coordination trouble in the patient. There is no known cure, and it gets worse as they get older. As a child, Victor was merely clumsy. By high school, he needed a cane to walk. By now, he can't walk for more than a few steps at all, and is confined to a wheelchair.
There's nothing wrong with his brain, though. Victor was, in fact, quite intelligent, and was able to get into MIT on a full ride scholarship. There he excelled academically, but never made many friends, as he tended to push away anyone he thought was pitying him for his condition. The friends he DID have found him funny and clever, but with a bit of a temper, and so rarely got very close. As a result of not having much of a social life and at taking a bit longer to do things with his hands, he ended up getting a reputation for spending absurd hours working at the labs. One of the few friends he had was another slightly older student named Christabel Starsky.
He studied robotics and got a degree, then went on to move to LCU to work on his masters in human prostheses, for obvious reasons. He's currently working part time at a medical tech company while struggling through grad school. Some day he hopes to develop a method for replacing his failing organic flesh with reliable synthetics.
First Echo: On discovering the robot arm/cannons of his old friend Christabel Starsky (Previous CR OK'd by mun), he recalled suddenly the schematics for his own sonic blaster gun arms.
Preincarnation Personality: Cyborg is an extremely active person. He jumps out of bed in the morning, ready to start the day and do as much as he can, and then is disappointed when bed time rolls around because of all the stuff he didn't get to do. He is a guy who gets bored easily, and always has to be doing something. The average person could get tired just watching him, but they'd have to admit that he gets a lot done.
He has a level of self confidence that borders on arrogance. Working on a team where Robin was the leader always vaguely grated on him, as he doesn't like taking orders, and has always had a deep seated feeling that he could do just as good as the leader if he got the chance, if not better. Most of the time he was able to just put these feelings in the background and be part of the team just fine, but on the rare case that they flared up (for example, when he briefly became the leader of Teen Titans East), the results were fairly dramatic.
While he's glad that he wasn't crippled by his accident, he still wishes he had had a chance at a normal life. It was worse before he met the other titans; he doesn't call himself a monster and yell at people anymore. The thing is, though, he invented a holographic disguise generator that let him appear as a normal human, and after he got through a specific mission that required it, he never used it again. All of the encouragement that he got over the years from the other titans
clearly has had a significant effect on him.
Occasional tensions aside, Cyborg gets along well with the other titans. He's probably Beast Boy's best friend, and while they have diametrically opposite personalities, he and Raven
get each other in a weird sort of way. He's not quite as close to Robin and Starfire, but they are still friends, and he's still got their backs whenver they need it.
His prize possession is, of course, the T-Car. He spends hours modifying and upgrading it (he has special hand attachments that allow for super efficient waxing and cleaning), he fawns over it like it was his baby, and is visibly distressed when it gets damaged. He built ALL the titan's vehicles, but the T-Car is extra special.
Any differences: Victor shares Cyborg's personal energy, but as he is physically handicapped it is devoted to more intellectual pursuits. He doesn't so much read as he does devour books, he likes games like chess, and likes lateral thinking puzzles and riddles.
Cyborg never wanted to be a cyborg, and while he's more or less come to terms with his new form, he would love to just be able to be a normal person who could blend in to a crowd again. Victor, on the other hand, longs to cast off his failing human flesh, and would wear any signs of being more than a normal human with pride
Victor, being small and skinny and wheelchair bound, has a bit of a chip on his shoulder about people underestimating him, whereas Cyborg was huge and beefy and used to being taken seriously.
Abilities: - Superhuman strength: Cyborg is once shown lifting an entire office building and hitting someone with it. He is very strong.
- Armor: Cyborg shrugs off blows that would kill a normal human, due to the increased durability of his cybernetic components.
- Sensor suite: Cyborg has a variety of scanners built into him, allowing him to track things around him by energy signature, heat trails, radar, sonar, etc.
- Jet boots: Allows super jumping
- Sonic blaster: He can reconfigure either arm into a giant cannon
- Modular parts: His arms and legs can be detached and function independently from the rest of him. While this is usually played for gags, he does on several occasion fire his hands in a Mazinger style rocket punch, or detach them and use a tiny built in camera in the middle finger for surveillance.
- Resistance to hypnosis: Cyborg was the only person who could resist Brother Blood's mind control powers, due to some weird mental quirk caused by his cybernetic nature.
Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Victor rolled on in to the book store, his head whirling. The last echo had been kind of...intense, and this was his refuge. He nodded to the cashier (He knew most of them at first name basis), and rolled to the back to look around for anything new. He tried furiously not to think about-
-His whole body laid out before him as a blue print, and he could control it all. Remove the need for sleep. Remove emotions. Remove human weakness. Control his own brain like a computer. Upgrade it. Make it better. He squeezed his eyes shut and tried to focus. Here, he was still barely able to walk on his own. This was the real world. That kind of technology didn't exist yet. Maybe some day, but not yet. Victor picked up a new Stephan Baxter book and stared at the back, unable to read it at all. It had been so
clear. But when he tried to work out how it had been done, he came up short.

Aaron Diaz's reboot of the Justice League as my inspiration for this AU.
